Doylestown artist Lisabeth Weber has joined the efforts of so many in Bucks County in supporting Ukrainians as they fight back against Russia’s invasion.

“I realize anyone can simply donate without receiving anything in return,” Weber told the Bucks County Herald, indicating her hopes that receiving her handmade pins and prints would bolster the number of Ukraine supporters.

Weber is not alone in her creative search for ways to help the battle-weary Ukranians.

Youth, such as New Hope-Solebury High School student Mia Chuma, a former Ukraine resident, have stepped up to raise money for the country. Nicholas Perrin, just seven-years-old, donated his Disney vacation savings to his local church’s fundraiser, “ Convoy of Hope.”

These efforts and others, should be no surprise, considering the presence of Russian and Ukrainian churches throughout the region.

Already two chapels, Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church of Lansdale and St. Anne’s Ukrainian Catholic Church located in Warrington, have been packed with 5,000 donated supply boxes and approximately $18,000 in monetary donations. Many in Bucks County and surrounding areas have also offered their homes to refugees.

Bensalem businessman Alfred Hagen said he plans to travel to Europe and personally deliver supplies to children’s hospitals.

“It’s a place where the innocent and those who can’t take care of themselves are having their lives destroyed,” Hagen told CBS Philly.

Bucks County’s relief efforts, whether small or large, continue to help Ukranians struggling to keep their nation free.
