Friday, August 5: There really is no better time of year to find the bounties of nature. Tonight, Peace Valley Nature Center is hosting a Summer Foraging Workshop, offered by Marissa of The Art of Ecology. During the event, you’ll walk around the grounds, learning about the things you can forage from the environment. After that, you can sample foraged wild edibles and make your own tea blends. The workshop runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and costs $40. Registration is required. Peace Valley Nature Center is located at 170 North Chapman Road in Doylestown. 

If you don’t feel like foraging for your dinner, today is also International Beer Day. You can celebrate by heading to Washington Crossing Inn for their new beer garden. Weather permitting, the beer garden will be open from 3 p.m. till closing. Beyond the beer, there are lawn games like cornhole and ring toss, as well as a limited beer garden food menu.

Saturday, August 6: Saturday afternoon, you can head to New Hope for a walk at Bucks County Audubon Society in Honey Hollow. Spend the afternoon with one of their teacher naturalists, looking for late summer reptiles and amphibians living in Honey Hollow. All the creatures will be photographed and submitted to PARS (Pennsylvania Amphibian & Reptile Survey). The walk is free but donations are strongly encouraged. Register here for the event that runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 2877 Creamery Road in New Hope. 

Saturday night, head out to Parx Casino to see Jimmy O. Yang. Jimmy is a comedian and actor, famous for his roles in Silicon Valley, Crazy Rich Asians, and Space Force. Tickets range from $30-$45, and the show starts at 7 p.m. The XCite Center at Parx Casino is located at 2999 Street Road in Bensalem.

Sunday, August 7: Shady Brook Farm is hosting a Sunflower Festival this weekend and next weekend. Besides all of the fun that is already happening at the farm, you can take a wagon ride to the sunflower fields to pick your own bouquets or take some selfies. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Stage Left is playing from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. There will be plenty of food and drinks available for purchase as well. Tickets for the event are $12 in advance and $15 at the gate. That doesn’t include the cost of the sunflowers you pick. Shady Brook Farm is located at 931 Stony Hill Road in Yardley.
