This Weekend: Outlaw Fest, Book Fest, September Fest

Looking for something to do this weekend? We’ve got you covered.

Friday, September 23: Sometimes you need to take a trip on a Friday night, and maybe heading to Camden for the Outlaw Music Festival is the answer. If you don’t know, the Outlaw Music Festival tour is headlined by the one and only Willie Nelson. He has invited various bands to play throughout the tour, with this show featuring Chris Stapleton, Zach Bryan, Larkin Poe, Brittney Spencer and Particle Kid. This is quite a lineup to see in one show. The event is at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion (formerly BB&T Pavilion) in Camden. The show starts at 3:55 p.m. and tickets are available starting at $45.

Saturday, September 24: For the conclusion of Banned Books Week, what would be better than attending a book festival? The Bucks County Book Fest is Friday and Saturday this weekend in Doylestown. The keynote is on Friday night, with best-selling author  Elin Hilderbrand, but is unfortunately sold out. There are workshops and events to attend on Saturday, though. On Saturday morning, there is a writers’ workshop from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., which includes how to pitch a story, choosing a publishing path, and a Q & A. Workshop tickets are $30.

Saturday afternoon is Books N’ Brew at three different locations in Doylestown from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Each location is hosting 12 local and best-selling authors, who will rotate through each location. They suggest arriving early to grab a drink before it starts. Authors will be at Hops/Scotch, the Garden Bar at Puck, and The Hattery at the Doylestown Inn. Check out the Books N’ Brew link for a full list of authors. The event is free.

Also from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday is a Banned Books parade taking place at State & Main in Doylestown Borough. The organizers say they will literally be bringing banned books to life.
