An upcoming survey developed by the Bucks County Drug and Alcohol Commission Inc. aims to improve substance use disorder prevention and provide resources to vulnerable youth and adults.
The Drug and Alcohol Commission oversees the county’s treatment, prevention and recovery support programs, according to its Executive Director Diane W. Rosati.
Once complete the survey will be available on the Drug and Alcohol Commission’s website and the Bucks County website. It is open to anyone living in Bucks County to complete.
Rosati said the new survey is a complement to the current PA Youth Survey offered to the county’s 13 school districts.
About 20,000 PA Youth Surveys were completed and returned in 2023.
“We know we don’t know all of the needs in the community,” Rosati explained, “and today we’re here asking for help from the community, our county leadership and from all residents.”
Mallory Perrotti, Drug and Alcohol Commission prevention supervisor, said the new survey aims to discover current perspectives about the needs for drug and alcohol prevention among Bucks County residents.
She said the new survey includes questions like:
· What are the biggest issues facing young people today?
· How can young people be more invested in school
The goal is to identify and “target underlying risk factors and hope the surveys give us more information,” Perrotti said.
