Americans don’t trust President Donald Trump when it comes to foreign policy, a Reuters/Ipsos poll that closed Sunday reveals.
Only 27 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s military attack on Iran. This includes 9% of Democrats, 19% of independents, and 55% of Republicans.
A majority of Americans, 56%, are also unhappy with Trump’s use of military force. This includes 87% of Democrats, 60% of independents, and 23% of Republicans.
President Trump announced Monday that the war in Iran could last weeks, and that if necessary the U.S. military has the “capability to go far longer than that.” The U.S. and Israel have continued to pound Iran since assassinating its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Saturday, while Tehran and its allies have hit back against Israel, neighboring Gulf states, and targets critical to the world’s production of oil and natural gas.

At least 787 people have been killed in Iran so far as a result of U.S.-Israeli military strikes, the Iranian Red Crescent Society announced Tuesday, and more than 130 cities across the country have come under attack.
Six U.S. soldiers have been killed thus far, and five seriously injured.
The poll was conducted during the United States and Israel’s joint attacks on Iran over the weekend and closed before the announcement of the first American casualties.
