“Election confidence is built by facts, transparency, and trustworthy administration—not by panic, paperwork, and political ultimatums,” wrote former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett and former Wisconsin Congressman Reid Ribble in TIME Magazine this week.
The self-described “conservative Republicans” warn that the bill supported by President Donald Trump and PA-01 Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick will disenfranchise young voters, rural voters, married women, military servicemembers, low-income workers and others.
“These are not theoretical concerns. They are ordinary facts of everyday American life,” they wrote.
Corbett and Ribble also raise the alarm that the legislation tramples on the Constitution, which delegates “election administration largely to the states.”
