Entering its second year, “Concerts at the Commons” kicks off a full month of Thursday evening events this week, proving if you offer live music – people will come.
“Through my experience with producing concerts in Bucks County there is more demand than ever to experience live music,” said Joe Montone, event promoter and Stage United founder.
This Thursday, Sept. 3 at the Broad Commons Park, “Concerts at the Commons” begins four free weekly outdoor events in Doylestown Borough.
Jazz Trombonist Hailey Brinnel headlines Thursday’s opening concert. Local Doylestown favorite Andrea Carlson and the Love Police will open for Brinnel.
“Beautiful Tomorrow” is Brinnel’s second album, released in March of 2023, according to a State United press release. While Brinnel’s music is “firmly rooted in the original intentions of 1920s-1940s jazz,” her arrangements bring a fresh contemporary energy to audiences, the press release said.
Grounds open at 6 p.m. and concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. These well-attended events include activities for kids and are pet-friendly.
“For an all-ages audience, there is a demand and not many avenues to experience that. For our last concert on May 28, we had more than 3,000 visitors,” Montone explained. He said across all four May live music events more than 5,000 were in attendance.
Stage United is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded by Montone. He said the organization aims to inspire communities through greater access to live music. Through sponsorships and grants, “we are the ones that fund-raise to make these concerts and many other productions happen,” he added.
Look for food trucks, beverages and “fun for all ages” at the weekly events.
“Stage United is so excited to bring these concerts to life again alongside Doylestown Borough,” Montone said in the press release.

On Sept. 10, Ceramic Animal, a hybrid of psychedelic rock, glam, post-punk and 1970s pop performs; followed by Dylan Zangwill, on Sept. 17. Zangwill, a 19 year old Aston native and former America’s Got Talent contestant, will perform on acoustic and electric guitars during his set and will be joined by special guest Johnny Zarfati.
To close out the month on Sept. 24, folk rockers Driftwood with special guest openers Kaitlynn Casper & the Night Bloom perform.
TileWorks Bluegrass series co-presents the Sept. 24 “Concerts at the Commons” with Stage United. The “Concerts at the Commons” performance is in advance of TileWorks Bluegrass Series final show on Sept. 27.
