The Bucks Intermediate Unit’s first adult services hub is coming to Bucks County Community College’s Newtown campus, expanding on the two organizations ongoing partnership.
Home to the new Adult Community Hub, the program will connect Bucks IU clients to educational, social and wellness opportunities available on the college campus.
“Through our collaboration with Bucks County Community College, participants will have access to authentic learning, social, and vocational experiences that foster independence, connection, and personal growth,” said Mark Hoffman, the Bucks IU’s executive director. “Together, we are creating a pathway that helps more individuals build fulfilling lives as active members of their community.”
The college has already partnered with the educational agency in other ways to support the community.
Bucks IU preschool classes are held on the Newtown Campus, providing both a space for the organization to provide early childhood education, but also a chance for college students to directly work with students with disabilities.
Students enrolled in the associate of science in nursing program complete a community clinical rotation at the Bucks IU’s Southampton Early Learning Center.
Collaboration with community organizations is necessary for the college’s success, according to Patrick Jones, president and chief executive officer of BCCC.
“Strategic partnerships allow us to combine resources to extend the reach and impact of both organizations,” Jones said. “This evolution of our relationship with the Bucks IU is just one of the latest examples of such partnerships, with more on the horizon.”
