The No Kings Day of Defiance is a nationwide mass mobilization of protestors who object to the Trump administration’s “billionaire-first agenda,” its increasing authoritarianism, and the dangerous militarization of civil society.
“It was a strict draconian ban,” said ACLU PA legal director Sara Rose.
“If anyone is looking for the true human cost of these thoughtless and heartless cuts being rammed through by the Trump administration, look no further,” said Bucks County Board of Commissioners Chair Bob Harvie.
“Sheriff Harran has blatantly overstepped his authority by enrolling Bucks County in a 287(g) agreement, a reckless decision that weaponizes local law enforcement to carry out ICE’s harmful agenda. This policy isn’t about safety—it’s about intimidation,” said Karen Rodriguez, member of Make the Road Pennsylvania and a Bucks County resident.
“This bill would provide Pennsylvania students with the necessary critical thinking skills and knowledge to evaluate the accuracy of news stories for themselves,” said state Sen. Katie Muth.
“I’m extraordinarily disappointed and angry that the majority of the board chose to ignore the very real concerns and wishes of their constituents in an apparent bid to further their own agendas,” said Nicole Lynch, a Centennial parent from Southampton Township.
“I am not buying his ‘I have changed, I blame the school board’ message,” said Warminster’s Nancy Pontius.
“I commend the commissioners for standing up for the rule of law, and calling [Sheriff] Fred Harran out on his half-baked scheme to use county resources to do ICE’s deportation work,” said Democratic Sheriff candidate Danny Ceisler.
Some Centennial meeting attendees called out a federal complaint filed by the ACLU against Central Bucks and Lucabaugh’s actions, citing “discriminatory and punitive” policies directed at LGBTQ+ students “and their allies.”
Because authoritarianism is most visible in hindsight, people often don’t recognize it until it’s too late.
“These communities in Bucks County were built for working-class people, and for decades it stayed that way. But since 2017, rent has gone up in our region by 50 percent,” said Prokopiak.
“Regardless of where the money comes from, this makes our communities more dangerous because it deteriorates the trust of police and crimes will go unreported,” said Project Libertad Executive Director Rachel Rutter.
The Greene County towns are believed to be the first in the state to use the emergency declaration in relation to drinking-water contamination.
At the National Conservatism Conference last week, Wilson was a featured speaker along with members of Congress and Trump’s Cabinet, including border czar Tom Homan, budget director Russell Vought and Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri.
