Bio:

Austin Davis is the 35th Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania and the first Black person to hold the office in the Commonwealth’s history. Raised in the Mon Valley by a hairdresser and a union bus driver, he is a first-generation college graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. His career in public service includes serving in Allegheny County government and representing the 35th District in the PA House, where he led the Allegheny County House Democratic Delegation. Currently the nation’s youngest sitting Lieutenant Governor, he presides over the state Senate and chairs several key state councils, including the Board of Pardons and the Commission on Crime and Delinquency. He and his wife, Blayre, reside in western Pennsylvania with their daughter.

  • Violence Prevention: Spearheaded the distribution of $85 million in Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) grants and secured $5 million to increase security for community centers and places of worship.

  • Youth Support: Championed the $11.5 million “Building Opportunity through Out of School Time” (BOOST) program, the first state-funded initiative in Pennsylvania history to direct dollars specifically to after-school programs.

  • Public Safety Infrastructure: Secured $60 million in new funding for county 911 services and led the re-establishment of the Pennsylvania Office of Gun Violence Prevention.

  • Criminal Justice Reform: Modernized the Board of Pardons by launching a fully online application system and increasing staffing to handle record numbers of hearings and applications.

  • Economic Equality: Focuses on lifting families out of poverty and securing fair funding for education to ensure economic opportunity across all Pennsylvania communities.
