Washington state Democrats support a bill making uninvited deployments of out-of-state troops illegal. Other states opposed to Trump’s deportation program could be inspired by the legislation.
The final budget will be a compromise that must pass through both chambers of the legislature, where Republicans who want to bring down the price tag hold strong sway.
Now that ICE agents have the green light to conduct operations at or near schools, school playgrounds, and bus stops, it is critical for districts to understand the law and have procedures in place to protect their students.
The five-session interactive program empowers students to better understand the root causes of bullying, become more resilient by increasing their self esteem, and to be more empathetic, said The Peace Center’s Danny Thomas.

According to Democracy Forward, who filed the lawsuit on behalf of a group of Quaker congregations that includes the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends, this Trump administration policy “is already sowing fear within migrant-friendly congregations and has led to cancelations in worship services out of fear.”
After a “packed” house at February’s event, the local NAACP continues its educational community discussion series on April 16.
