As ICE raids by masked agents touch the lives of people who aren’t immigrants themselves, more citizens feel moved to participate in civil disobedience — some for the first time ever.
The Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches is most easily understood through three main parts: churches, schools and media.
“At a time when things are so expensive, and it’s hard to get health care, and it’s hard to put food on the table, they’re cutting those very services in order to provide tax breaks for the wealthiest among us,” said Dwayne Heisler, Campaign Director for Pennsylvania Policy Center.
“It doesn’t belong in federal court. It’s a matter of state law against all state parties,” said ACLU PA Senior Supervising Attorney Stephen Loney.
“For far too long, Pennsylvania’s public transit systems have been underfunded and underappreciated by politicians in Harrisburg,” Senator Collett said at a rally Wednesday.
Juneteenth became a federal holiday in the U.S. in 2021 but has been celebrated in Texas since 1866.
“We are living in a moment where public servants are being targeted for doing their jobs. That is not democracy. That is terrorism,” said Kenyatta.
“It has been painful to watch one group of refugees, selected in a highly unusual manner, receive preferential treatment over many others who have been waiting in refugee camps or dangerous conditions for years,” said Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe.
“We’re absolutely in a public health crisis of epic proportions. We’re in a situation where there are reproductive health care deserts, not just abortion care deserts,” said National Abortion Federation President and CEO Brittany Fonteno.
“We are all looking for some kind of hope; for someone who has been successful in taking on the far right,” said Barbara Simmons, executive director of The Peace Center in Langhorne.
