This Weekend: King Lear, Blues, & Pennridge Community Day

Looking for fun this weekend? We’ve got you covered!

Friday, July 8: Tonight, head out to Fonthill Castle for Shakespeare’s “King Lear,” performed by Actors’ NET of Bucks County. Shakespeare outdoors is perhaps the best way to see it, especially if the weather is nice. Tickets are $20 for lawn seating, $30 for preferred.

There is a chance for thunderstorms tonight, so if you’re not willing to risk it, you could go to Painting with a Twist in Bensalem for a Starry Beach Set painting night. It looks like the painting is a combo of a beach scene and Van Gogh’s Starry Night. The fun part is that it looks to be a diptych, or two art pieces that make a whole. Seems like a good deal to make two paintings for the price of one. Cost is $39 and starts promptly at 7 p.m. They recommend arriving early to get setup. The class is BYO snacks and alcohol.

Saturday, July 9: It’s probably going to rain during the day on Saturday. Check out Dreaming Walls: Inside the Chelsea Hotel by Executive Producer Martin Scorsese. It is a glimpse into the era of the Chelsea Hotel in New York, through the eyes of its current long-time residents, as a years-long renovation continues. It’s streaming on AppleTV and Amazon Prime.

Slim & the Perkolators are playing at the Bucks County Brewery Saturday night from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Their music is straight-up blues. Slim plays the harmonica with fervor. If you’re hungry, the Southern Style Seafood Truck is going to be there all day and evening as well. Bucks County Brewery has a beer called Sparkle Bomb on tap right now. It’s a pineapple and kiwi fruited sour. If that doesn’t sound like summer, I don’t know what does.
