This Weekend: Christian & Nyke, Spooktacular Parade, Reproductive Rights, Tricks & Treats

Looking for something to do this weekend? We’ve got you covered.
christian porter & nyke van wyk

Friday, October 21: Tonight, head to the Spinnerstown Hotel Restaurant & Tap Room to see Christian Porter & Nyke van Wyk play. Christian Porter was on The Voice on NBC nearly 10 years ago, where he was mentored by Blake Shelton. His style and sound is reminiscent of Dave Matthews, with a smoother and less raspy tone. Nyke van Wyk plays violin, and has been playing professionally for two and a half decades, which seems hard at his age. He started touring while he was a teenager, and has played and toured with well-known bands and musicians ever since. It seems hard to beat on a Friday night if you’re looking to go see some good music. The Spinnerstown Hotel Restaurant & Tap Room is located at 2195 Spinnerstown Road in Quakertown. The show is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. There is no cover charge, but alcoholic drinks will be $1 more than usual to cover the costs.

Saturday, October 22: Get out your Halloween costumes. All of the opportunities to dress up for Halloween are coming into focus. The Doylestown Spooktacular Parade and Costume Contest is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The parade begins at the Bucks County Administration Building (55 E. Court Street) and parades from Pine Street to East State Street. If you are participating in the costume contest, pre-registration is strongly recommended.

After the parade, trick-or-treating downtown will commence. Look for businesses and restaurants with orange and black balloons. You can obtain a printed list when you check in for the costume contest.

If you’re not planning on attending the Halloween parade, you could go to a Reproductive Rights Rally and March in Warminster at 10 a.m. Clearly, if you’re going, bring protest signs. The first part of the rally is discussing the issue, telling stories, and talking about actions going forward. That is followed by a march from the original location at 401 Gibson Avenue to the VFW at 645 Louis Drive.

Sunday, October 23: This Sunday, Pennsbury Manor is hosting Tricks & Treats 2022 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Beyond trick-or-treating on-site, families can interact with colonial demonstrators, sit on a witch trial jury, paint pumpkins, press apples for cider, and other Halloween games and activities. While the event is free, pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Pennsbury Manor is located at 400 Pennsbury Memorial Road in Morrisville.
