Our changing planet affects all of us—but not equally. Climate Justice explores the intersection of climate change, environmental justice, and systemic issues that lead to some communities bearing the brunt of climate burdens more than others. It advocates for an equal distribution of burdens and resources to increase resilience, transition to clean energy and support healthy, thriving communities.
A climate justice listening event will take place on November 20 at the Northampton library from 6-7:30 p.m. to unearth community insights from Bucks County residents and community-serving organizations to support the design of a Climate Justice Fund. This initiative aims to empower grassroots organizations across the Philadelphia region — including Philadelphia, Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery, and Camden counties — by providing resources to community-based organizations to support organizing and amplify community needs during this unprecedented time of federal and state investment in clean energy and climate resilience.
Integral to this process are community climate justice listening circles. These safe spaces allow community members and organizations to share personal experiences, challenges, and aspirations related to climate and environmental impacts. Participants will explore health concerns, access to clean energy, affordable housing, transportation, green spaces, and other critical racial and economic justice concerns through facilitated discussions. By creating a safe space and integrating anti-racist processes, these circles foster a deep respect for the insights of impacted communities.
Participants in these circles will be compensated for their time and provided with a meal. The insights gathered will be crucial in shaping the fund’s criteria and governance structures. This participatory approach ensures that funding decisions reflect the real needs and strengths of the communities served.

As we face escalating climate crises, the urgency of this initiative cannot be overstated. The organizing event in November will set the stage for a collaborative network of community organizations dedicated to advancing climate justice.
By prioritizing community voices, we can cultivate equitable solutions that address the root causes of climate injustice, ensuring a healthier, more sustainable future for all. Join us in this vital movement and be part of a collective effort to redefine climate justice in our region. Community members and community-based organizations in Bucks County that serve vulnerable populations and/or have a lens for climate justice issues, please join us at the Northampton Public Library located at 25 Upper Holland Road, Richboro, PA 18954 on November 20 from 6-7:30 pm.
