The Senate investigation into Russian election interference confirmed Putin’s involvement and confirmed contact between Russia and Julian Assange/Wikileaks, between WikiLeaks and Roger Stone, and between Stone and Trump (on multiple occasions). The report confirmed extensive Russian contact, including Russian intelligence officers, with the Trump family, campaign, and White House, but acting chair then-Senator Marco Rubio and the GOP members concluded that they found no collusion.
Rubio is now Secretary of State, Ukraine and NATO are threatened, and Putin’s ultimate objectives are now supported by the highest levels of U.S Government.
All 3 federal investigations into Russian cyber warfare found that Putin had two objectives:
- Divide the American people.
- Make us lose faith in the electoral process.
It not only worked, it culminated in a “Stop the Steal’ movement, fomented by Donald Trump and led to a violent insurrection to stop the counting of legal ballots on January 6, 2021.
Trump is now trying to destroy evidence of January 6 and go after any law enforcement involved in the investigation of the insurrection; thereby erasing the fact that he is ineligible to be president by Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.
“This push to whitewash recent history carries a disconcerting echo of countless autocratic regimes, from the Chinese Communist Party’s memory-holing of the Tiananmen Square massacre to the Argentine military junta’s “disappearing” of dissidents.” @alecmac.bsky.social

May 6, 2019, is a very important day in American history, because more than 1,000 former federal prosecutors, who served under Republican and Democratic administrations, issued a joint statement maintaining that if Trump weren’t President of the United States, he would have been indicted on multiple charges of obstruction of justice.
By the fall of 2020, Trump would engage in a seven-part-scheme to overthrow the government of the United States. The January 6th Congressional Report confirmed every part of the scheme with substantial proof. Yet Trump, despite the resignation of former Attorney General William Barr, despite the threatened mass resignation of DOJ leadership, despite Vice President Mike Pence refusing the same illegal order to circumvent the constitution, despite the resignation of two cabinet members the next day, January 7, despite impeachment for high crimes, the Senate acquitted him, and by so-doing insured Vladimir Putin’s continued assault on America.
And here we are, in 2025, with a president constitutionally barred from any federal office by aiding and abetting insurrectionists, by pardoning those convicted of seditious conspiracy. And, now, another gift has been given to Vladimir Putin – Trump installed cabinet members unprecedentedly/obscenely unqualified for maintaining our national security.
With Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseths saying that the United States will not support NATO membership for Ukraine, with Vice President JD Vance telling our European allies that the greatest threat to democracy wasn’t Russia or China but rather a “threat from within,” we have cabinet members aiding Putin’s strategic objectives yet again.
The Mueller investigation was a criminal investigation which could not prove conspiracy, which had plenty of evidence for obstruction of justice, but did not have the authority to indict a sitting president (established DOJ policy).
Collusion, however, is coordination with the motive to deceive, and all three federal investigations proved that there was plenty of deception, in fact, seven of the president’s men were found guilty of obstructing Congress: Manafort, Gates, Papadopoulos, Stone, Bannon, Flynn, and Cohen obstructed the investigation into Russia and all were convicted.

What was total abdication of responsibility on the part of the House and the Senate, a violation of their oath in office, and what was lost on the American people, was this blatant obstruction – the president of the United States sabotaging the investigation of an enemy state.
Further proof of the president betraying America and its allies; further evidence of a malignant narcissism which disqualifies one from the military, was Trump lobbying for reinstatement of Russia into the G-8 while the United States was being victimized by Russian cyberwarfare on historic levels (and just this week he called for Russia’s reinstatement again while simultaneously describing to the American people the massive destruction of Ukrainian cities by Putin in this unprovoked war).
The Senate investigation into Russian interference reads like 966 pages of collusion with multiple Russian actors. But acting committee head Rubio concluded there was none. Rubio is now Secretary of State, and, as if scripted by Putin in a hostile takeover of our government, Tulsi Gabbard (with a long record of publicly stating Kremlin talking points, including Ukrainian conspiracy theories) is now the head of all U.S. intelligence.
“Whiskey/Tango/Foxtrot” is the only phrase that applies at this point, but our duty to defend the constitution against all enemies has not changed. And there is much work to do if we intend to keep this republic.
