The Bike Works powered by Fred Beans Cycling Team has been competing against America’s top cyclists all season.
On September 13, they’ll come home to compete in the Bucks County Classic, which consists of a 1.2-mile technical and fast circuit race through downtown Doylestown.
One of America’s most prestigious criteriums, this race features national champions and Olympic racers all competing to be named to be the first place best.
“We’ve raced the best across the country this season, but nothing compares to racing in front of our hometown,” said Brian Boger, Bike Works Powered by Fred Beans Cycling Team team director. “Every September, we get the chance to show our sponsors, families, friends and neighbors what their support has made possible.”
The race is held alongside the Doylestown Arts Festival, which attracts thousands of spectators to line the course and cheer on the racers as they fly by over 33 laps.
“The atmosphere is incredible. When you’re hurting late in the race, hearing people from our hometown cheering you on makes all the difference,” said Andrew Wolfe, an elite rider for the Bike Works Powered by Fred Bean Cycling Team.
The team earned USA Cycling Domestic Elite Team status in 2017 and is now one of the Mid-Atlantic’s top cycling programs. Several alumni of the team are training for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
“Seeing more local businesses and supporters behind this team every year has been incredible. Their support has allowed us to race across North America, Europe and South America. The number of local kids who have lined up at the pro races at the Bucks County Classic is incredible,” said founding elite rider of the Bike Works Powered by Fred Beans Cycling Team Chris Meacham.
The team is operated by the Delaware Valley Racing Team and is a nonprofit dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles while developing competitive cyclists.
