Since being sworn into office on January 5, Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan said in an interview his office’s top priority is keeping Bucks County – and its visitors and residents – safe.
“Many of our neighbors are living in fear – not only from violent criminals but sometimes the government itself. Folks across the county are feeling the pain from unchecked corporate greed and are looking for someone in government to stand up for their families. And by our words and our actions, we are letting folks know that we will protect them and that we will be fearless in that fight,” Khan said.
Khan, a Democrat, won November’s election against Republican incumbent Jennifer Schorn with 54% of the vote, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office website.
In November’s election Democrats swept Bucks County Row offices, as well as several judicial offices, ousting all five former Republican county row office holders in a “blue wave,” which also touched many municipal government and school board elections.
During his time as county solicitor from 2020-2023, Khan worked “across party lines to take court action” to protect everyone – from children and youngsters to seniors and retirees – and the environment.
“Now that I’m serving as district attorney alongside other elected officials, who agree that county government needs to show up for the people, we can be stronger and bolder in taking on more of these fights to protect Bucks County,” Khan said.
He noted corruption is among the biggest issues facing Bucks County.
“Whether it’s corporations polluting our environment, companies exploiting our seniors, politicians violating our trust, or government officials violating our rights, we need a district attorney’s office that will protect us from bad actors and hold them accountable,” Khan explained.
Directing the DA’s office “to use both criminal and civil enforcement powers to shine a light on corruption and stand up for the people of Bucks County” is another of Khan’s priority initiatives.
“By our words and our actions, we are letting folks know that we will protect them and that we will be fearless in that fight.”
Among Bucks County’s “unsung” strengths is “an embarrassment of riches,” Khan said, “including our people.”
Khan is proud to be among police officers, civic leaders, community groups and community members working together to further good causes and responsible citizenship across Bucks County.

“Leading an office of dynamic professionals who are dedicated to seeking justice every day, we’ve recruited new talent, like Elizabeth Oquendo and Brendan Flynn, and so many of the career prosecutors and detectives who were hungry for new leadership are now energized that the team has a new coach who will move us into the 21st century,” Khan said.
“We have a lot of work to do, and there isn’t a moment to waste,” he added.
