Open for less than a month, The African American Museum of Bucks County (AAMBC) has already taken its place as a preservation stronghold of local and forgotten history.
Since its June 19 opening and to continue the museum’s mission, a generous supporter has pledged to match every donation dollar given to the museum during July.
Now through July 30, the Lift Every Voice fundraiser makes every dollar count. Every $250 donation or more will be met with a second matching amount. The fund drive goal is to double the original $25,000 pledge to $50,000.
Donations of $500 or greater will include the donor’s name on the museum’s permanent donor wall. Donations can be made online or by check at the museum’s mailing address.
Patricia Mervine, the Capital Campaign Chairperson for the AAMBC, views the fundraiser as a way of enhancing the museum’s overall experience.
“The Lift Every Voice Challenge Match will enable AAMBC to further enrich the visitor experience through physical accommodations such as indoor and outdoor furniture for school trips and an expanded parking lot,” said Mervine.
She also mentioned the money going towards an “exciting series of programs” as well as “special exhibits.” These additions will incentivize people to continually return to the museum and engage with history and culture.
Part of the drive is to ensure that voices of the past are not forgotten.
The AAMBC describes the Lift Every Voice fundraiser as a “community investment in preserving our shared history.”
