The Bristol Township School District school board will be voting on the approval of Amy Coleman as the district’s next superintendent at its Oct. 27 meeting.
Coleman, who currently serves as chief academic officer, would start on Jan. 1, 2027, and succeed current superintendent Michael Nitti, who told the board in June he will retire at the start of the new year.
The BTSD school board has conducted internal interviews throughout the summer and early fall to find Nitti’s replacement.
“After completing our vetting process, we were particularly impressed by Mrs. Coleman’s leadership, accomplishments, and commitment to our students and community,” said school board president James Morgan. “We are excited to see her step into the superintendent role.”
Coleman brings over 12 years of Pennsylvania school administrative experience. She has worked as director of curriculum and special programs at Union City Area School District and was recognized as the National Outstanding Assistant Principal of Pennsylvania in 2017 for her work in Erie Public Schools.
She joined Bristol Township in 2021 as the supervisor of elementary curriculum and instruction, before starting her current role in 2023.

“I am humbled, proud and excited to begin this new role in the district,” Coleman said. “I have loved BTSD since I arrived and look forward to continuing our academic momentum while strengthening our partnership with the community.”
Members of the Bristol Township community will have a chance to hear Coleman’s vision for the superintendent role and ask questions at a community meet and greet on Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. at Benjamin Franklin Middle School.
