Victims’ families and experts have mixed reactions. Some hope the money will bring fresh attention, while others doubt the rewards will be enough to get witnesses to come forward.
Data centers have become a growing concern as November’s midterm elections loom, but are one of the rare major issues that don’t divide along party lines.
“There’s real-life consequences to scaring people and not relying on actual doctors and actual medical professionals to provide unbiased information to parents so that we can make reasonable decisions for our kids,” said Gov. Josh Shapiro.
Residents living closest to these projects often know the least about them, largely because of NDAs that shield basic details — including how much water and energy a facility will use — from public view.
Franklin Kury, who passed away last week, helped make Pennsylvania one of the first governments in the world to guarantee a healthy environment as a basic right.
“I am glad that Jon [Forest] has publicly corrected the record
regarding the 2023 election. The truth matters, particularly in a small community where words can have a lasting impact on our neighbors and their reputations,” said Buckingham Township Supervisor Mike Bateman.
“Over the last few months, my administration has talked to growers across the commonwealth, learning about the hardships they expect to go through in the coming months and the help they need to get through it,” Gov. Shapiro said.
But states with and without such policies have seen street raids to round up immigrants.
