It is “deeply disturbed” by the use of derogatory and dehumanizing language around migrants, refugees and asylum seekers.
“One of the key ideas … [is] creating a walkable, mixed-use area that strengthens the downtown and supports local businesses,” said Penndel resident and project advocate Mark Moffa.
“We have seen a substantial increase in energy prices that are really squeezing Pennsylvanians across the board. Families are really hurting,” said Elizabeth Marx, the executive director at the Pennsylvania Utility Law Project.
“There are additional financial pressures this year on families, and we get more and more requests for scholarships every day,” said Melanie Douty-Snipes, director of education at Snipes Farm and Education Center.
The homemade devices, which did not explode, were hurled Saturday during raucous counterprotests against an anti-Islamic demonstration led by far-right activist Jake Lang.
This year’s events come at a moment where many activists worry that the current political environment may result in a backsliding on many of the rights they’ve long fought for.
“I’m concerned that all of the advances that we made for the last 61 years are going to be eradicated,” said Charles Mauldin, 78, one of the marchers beaten on Bloody Sunday.
