Letters to the Editor for Sept. 14

Where did our patriotism go?Watching the television on 9/11, I was so moved by all the stories that were told by the survivors and the families of those who did not make it. What hit me the most was what unity and love showed that day and many days thereafter.   All of America showed the world what we American people are made of. Men and women were signing up to join one of the military branches ready to fight the people who dared to attack our country. Where did that love and unity go over the years?   Where did our patriotism go? Fast forward to the Trump era. Families are fighting families; friends are fighting friends until the ultimate happened. Trump followers paraded to our U.S. Capitol building where the confirmation of the election was taking place.    They went there to do harm to our vice president and members of the senate and proceeded to inflict pain to the guards that were there to protect our U.S. Capitol building. They destroyed our property showed no respect for our senator’s offices. Guards were severely injured.    All of America needs to watch the events of 9/11 until they realize they need to go back to the love and caring that was shown that eventful day. God Bless America.  Dolores MadrigaleSouthampton
