The Pennridge School Board will hold its committee meetings at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening at the high school with a larger than usual public attendance expected.
The meeting agendas reveals a jam-packed schedule, including the participation of Vermilion consultant Jordan Adams via Zoom during the curriculum committee portion of the meeting.
Pennridge is believed to be the first public school district in the country to utilize Vermilion’s services subsequent to being rejected by the Sarasota School Board in Florida.

Additional curriculum committee agenda items include a presentation of middle and high school course materials by Dr. Kathy Scheid and Dr. David Bolton.
The approval of lists, representing dozens of cartons containing fiction and non-fiction books being “weeded” out of circulation from Bedminster Elementary, North Middle, Goth Elementary, South Middle and the high school, also appears on the facilities committee agenda.
At the May board meeting, similar weeding lists were presented. Fiction as well as non-fiction books including Milk and Honey, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, Are You There God It’s Me Margaret, and books about the indigenous people of North America, slavery, the Civil War, the Second World War, including the Tuskegee Airmen, were eliminated from the district’s collection.

A review of policies including 235.1 Surveys, 720 Use of Restroom and Locker Facilities and 109 Resource Materials are scheduled for discussion during the policy committee portion of the meeting.
A “Supervisor Discussion” is slated for the personnel committee. The removal of four subject supervisors was confirmed by district personnel and was leaked onto social media in May.
The finance committee itinerary includes the final general fund budget for Fiscal Year 2023-2024 along with an assortment of contracts including the district’s consideration of retaining counsel, on a contingency fee basis, for pursuing litigation against an array of social media platforms.
Wednesday’s meeting is open to the public and residents from the district are invited to make public comment.
A full board meeting is scheduled for June 12 at 7 p.m., at the high school.
