The Northern Bucks Democratic Committee will host a workshop by Red Wine & Blue on Tuesday in Quakertown to help people understand the extremist threat Moms for Liberty poses to public education and learn about what they can do to defend their school district from it.
Fighting Extremism: Understanding the Danger of Moms For Liberty begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Richland Township Municipal Building located at 1328 California Road. Admission is free and a live feed will also be available.
Known for its far-right agenda, book bans, and anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, Moms For Liberty has been actively attempting to hijack school boards since 2021. In fact, it was recently designated an extremist anti-government group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Well versed in Moms For Liberty history and tactics, Tuesday’s guest speaker is Kim Barbara, Deputy Director for Red Wine and Blue Pennsylvania.

Book bans, discriminating against LGBTQ+ youth, and the discontinuation of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs are common practices initiated by Moms For Liberty school board directors once they seize control of a school district’s board.
Two local school districts have been under assault by elected board members associated with the group since 2021.
In Central Bucks, policies impacting LGBTQ+ students spurred the filing of a formal complaint against the district by the ACLU.
Parents and teachers in Pennridge are facing the replacement of the district’s curriculum with the far-right Hillsdale Christian 1776 curriculum.
“This is a movement,” Barbaro said. “A very well-funded, well supported movement. Knowledge is power, and we need to start having hard conversations. I encourage everyone to vote twice a year, every year.”
Brian Reimers, an elected school board director for the Quakertown School District and chair of NBDC believes the Civics 101 series has helped bring people together. “One of our goals has always been to grow our group, to let people know we’re here,” he said. “Because I think there are a lot of Democrats, especially in the upper Bucks area.”
The event is part of NBDC’s Civics 101 presentations, which have been happening for approximately five years. Previous guest speakers have included former Gov. Ed Rendell, 314 Action, and Fair Districts PA.
Northern Bucks Democratic Committee comprises four municipalities, Richland Township, Quakertown Borough, Richlandtown Borough and Haycock Township.
