For something a little bit different, we’ve compiled a list of actions you can do this weekend. While there are plenty of fun things to do like the Food Truck Fest happening this weekend in Warminster, there are also opportunities to volunteer or support various initiatives. Or maybe you can do both. So, here are some actions you can take this weekend. Friday, June 24: Indivisible Bucks County is hosting a Bans Off Our Bodies rally at 5 p.m. Ashley Ehasz will be the featured speaker at the event. The event coordinators advise to bring your pro-choice signs to support reproductive freedom. It’s located at 1717 Langhorne-Newtown Rd, 19047.
Saturday, June 25: Nature lovers will find plenty of ways to help the environment on Saturday. Kind Earth Growers is hosting a native plant sale and Native Pollinator Talk & Walk at 11 a.m. Victoria Holderer will be giving a talk as you walk about native pollinators and what kind of plants they like. The event is in honor of Pollinators Week, which is a celebration to promote supporting pollinators that are a key part of our ecosystem. While you’re there, you can buy some native plants to support the ecosystem in your yard. Kind Earth Growers is located at 2503 Mountain View Drive in Ottsville.
Also on Saturday, you could choose to help clean up the beach at Neshaminy State Park. There are two sessions you can sign up for – 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. There is a great view of Philadelphia from the beach, and you can enjoy how pretty it is after the litter has been cleared. While some volunteers will be cleaning litter from the beach, another group of volunteers is planting trees and removing invasive plant species from a 2 acre section of Neshaminy State Park. You can volunteer to plant trees here. This is part of a larger project hosted by Excel Events, who is a Keystone Ten Million Trees partner . Neshaminy State Park is located at 3401 State Road in Bensalem.
Sunday, June 26: If you’re looking to support a good cause, you could sign up (and run!) the Bucks County Mile at 9:30 a.m. Part of the Proceeds go to Tyler State Park PPFF (Pennsylvania Parks & Forests Foundation) The event starts at Newtown Middle School at 116 Richboro Newtown Rd in Newtown. They say it’s almost all downhill, and it’s only a mile!
If you would like to meet some neighbors and live in house district 29, Tim Brennan’s campaign is doing a summer canvass on Sunday, starting at 1 p.m in Doylestown.
Lastly, support the arts by heading to the Michener Art Museum in Doylestown to see their limited-time Keith Haring exhibit. The exhibit will run through July 31st, but it’s probably better to get out there before summer vacations get in the way. Tickets for adults are $15 (free for members), and the museum is open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Michener Art Museum is located at 138 S. Pine Street.
