Pennsylvania “mama bears” are set to gather at Pennsylvania’s Capitol on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. in support of the right-wing grassroots movement “Don’t Mess With Our Kids.”

“Our nation is in a crisis – families are being ripped apart at the seams by an agenda determined to sexualize our kids,” says the Don’t Mess With Our Kids website. “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Mama bears across the nation are rising up to join the #dontmesswithourkids movement and pray, fast, and stand for their families.”

The phrase “mama bears” is frequently used to describe a mother who is fiercely protective of her children and is a phrase regularly used by the extremist anti-government group Moms for Liberty.

Locally, Telford conservative activist Kaitlin Derstine has promoted the event on her FaceBook page.

Don’t Mess With Our Kids partnered with Her Voice Ministries, founded by Jenny Donnelly to coordinate events at the 50 state capitols across the nation and the group has no qualms expressing their anti-LGBTQ+ and pro-life positions.

Donnelly is also a co-founder of The Collective Church where she and her husband serve on the Advisory Council as Apostolic Leadership, along with Lou Engle who provides Evangelic Leadership.

Bucks County Beacon writer Jennifer Cohn, an expert on Christian nationalism, including the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR), has linked Engle to NAR. Donnelly’s beliefs closely align with Engle’s efforts and she appears with Engle in YouTube videos.

Additionally, Donnelly and her husband are the founders of Tetelestai Ministries, with “Turning America Back To God” prominently featured on the website’s homepage.

Derstine’s promotion of the event is interesting, due in part to her relationship with Eagle’s Wings, founded by Robert Stearns in Clarence, New York, where Aaron Derstine, Kaitlin’s husband, is listed as a staff writer. Stearns is documented to have ties to Pennsylvania’s “Apostle” Abby Abildness, who has been linked to NAR, according to the website NAR Connections.
